Patients are only seen with a referral and an appointment by a psychiatrist and a psychologist for:Primary evaluation of patient
- Follow up of patient as arranged
- Anxiety clinic
- Other e.g. psychology, consultant clinic
Special social work and occupational therapy services are delivered on strict appointment basis. |

| Acute Wards |
| Admission of patients with mood, psychotic anxiety and other disorders, only from the Stikland Hospital catchment area. |

| Psycho geriatrics |
For persons above the age of 60 years, from the whole of the Western Cape. The patients are admitted here but evaluated at the hospital in their catchment area. |

| Alcohol Rehabilitation |
Persons from the whole Western Cape attend a 3 or 4 week program as determined. The client does their own booking at tel: 021 940 4496. Persons have to motivated to come for rehabilitation. |

| Opioid Detoxification |
Opioid dependent patients who have booked for a rehabilitation program are admitted for detoxification before the program. Referrals via a registered rehabilitation program are accepted. |

| How does admission take place? |
No client may come directly to Stikland Hospital for an assessment or admission. The Mental Health Care Act no. 17 of 2002, stipulates that new and known clients are first to be evaluated by their doctors or day hospitals prior to referral to Stikland Hospital. If the client is very difficult to manage and refuses evaluation by a doctor or day hospital, the nearest police station can be contacted for help. |

| Documents for admission |
- A letter of referral, outlining the psychiatric problem and contact details of a person who knows the client very well
- Identity document
- Medical aid card (if applicable)
- Proof of income: salary slip or pension card/book
- Written proof of unemployment or proof of a disability grant

| How long does treatment take? |
It varies from patient to patient and in which ward they have been admitted. Stikland Hospital does have short, medium and long-term wards. |

Neuro Clinic U
Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 15:00-16:00
Only for next of kin above the age of 18 years
